E-Mail Header
Header is part of e-mail structure, which includes the information where the
mail came from, how it was sent and when it was sent. The header contains the
following information:
Name and address of the sender, recipient and the information that mail is
being copied.
Date and time the mail was sent.
Subject of the mail.
Mailer information and its route information from the sender to the recipient.
How to read the mail header:
By default, header is not set to full. You must reset your email program
proprieties to get the full header.
- In MS Outlook Express: Highlight the email in your inbox by click
once then press CTRL-F3.
- In Netscape 3: Select Options --> show headers --> All
- In Netscape Mail: click view --> show header --> all
- In Outlook 98: Open the message, then go to View --> Options.
You should see the header information at the bottom.
- In Outlook 97: Click to select the message. Go to File menu -->
Properties. Click the "Internet" tab. The details are displayed on
this tab.
- In Eudora Light: Select Tools --> Options -->Fonts &
Display then Show all headers
- In Eudora Pro: Open the mail, double click on the subject line
- In Unix Pine: In Main Menu goto Setup, type C for configure,
highlight the enable-full-header-cmd and press X for set if it is not
already setup. Then goto the mail and press H for header.
